Background and aims: Some studies have shown that Covid-19 increases the risk of ischemic stroke. Therefore, the present study was performed to review the studies on ischemic stroke associated with Covid-19.
Methods: The articles were searched in national and international databases. In the present study, 17 articles were identified and according to the purpose of the study, five studies were reviewed.
Results: Studies have shown that Covid-19 increased risk of acute ischemic stroke. All studies have expressed that in patients with acute ischemic stroke following Covid-19, D-dimer was increased due to the breakdown of fibrin which indicates increased blood coagulation. Conclusion: There is a risk of stroke in patients with Covid-19. All patients should be monitored for clinical signs of stroke and laboratory parameters, especially inflammatory and coagulation parameters, during and after hospitalization.
