Background: Today, chronic infections are known as a risk factor of
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and Helicobacter pylori is the most
common chronic infection in human all over the world. We tried to
understand and recover relationship between H.Pylori infection and
CAD.
Materials and Methods: A case-control study conducted on CAD patients
admitted in Besat hospital in Tehran. Control group included
patients visited hospital in study time without CAD history and
gastrointestinal complaint. Each group contained 282 patients and
we assessed serum anti H.Pylori Ab level among them.
Result: Mean age in our study was 58 years and 58% of them were
man. Overall, 63% of CAD patients were seropossitive for H.Pylori
versus 33% in control group. (OR: 3.48, 95% CI: 2.47-4.9)
Conclusion: Based on our findings H.Pylori infection is most prevalent
in patients with CAD and must be known as a risk factor of CAD. |
