Methods: A qualitative study through inductive content analysis and analysis of latent content was performed. The statistical population included specialists and experts in the field of emotion regulation in Iran. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with purposive sampling method with saturation of 11 specialists. Results: The analysis of findings led to two main categories of efficient communication processes in the family and dysfunctional communication processes in the family. The results were also divided into six subcategories, including effective family relationships, parenting styles emotion regulation, safe emotional atmosphere andsupport in the family, inappropriate relationships within the family, parenting styles emotion dysregulation and insecurity, and lack of support in the family. Conclusion: The results showed that both efficient communication processes and dysfunctional communication processes in the family they can affect the way people regulate their emotion in two different ways.
