The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of mandatory exercise on anxiety and bowel oxidative stress in male rats following the maternal separation stress Materials and methods: In this experimental study, the maternal separation stress on baby rats was applied, so that, babies were separated from their mother during postnatal day (PND) 2 to 14, for 180 minutes a day. At PND 28, rats were randomly divided into five groups including control group, maternal separation stress group, mandatory treadmill exercise, maternal separation with treadmill, and maternal separation with the intake of fluoxetine. At PND 60, after finishing the program, in addition to behavioral tests, biochemical and tissue biopsy, for measuring the oxidative stress biomarkers (ROS level), were applied. Results: Our investigation revealed that only the intake of fluoxetine during adolescence can significantly make change on the anxiety-like behaviors, ROS level, and the level of mitochondrial glutathione; however, the observed difference among the other groups was not significant. Conclusion: This study suggested that maternal separation stress was able to appear anxiety-like behaviors. In addition, a significantly change on the bowel oxidative stress was observed. It seems the effect of exercise on stress can be affected by intensity and duration of exercise, the rest time after exercise, and also the stress level before the exercise. %> http://ebnesina.ajaums.ac.ir/article-1-479-en.pdf %P 22-29 %& 22 %! %9 Original %L A-10-362-1 %+ Department of exercise physiology, Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch, Tehran %G eng %@ 1735-9503 %[ 2018
