1 1735-9503 Islamic Republic of Iran/ Air Force Health Administration 65 Study of DMF index in aircrew members of Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force Mousavi SA Zakerzadeh E 1 10 2008 11 1 5 9 07 03 2012 03 06 2014 Background: DMF is an important index for evaluation of tooth health, which is used in epidemiologic studies to survey the teeth condition. It indicates the number of decayed, missed and filled teeth. Materials and methods: In this study, the teeth of 341 of aircrew members were checked up and acquired information were entered to forms. Data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: The mean value of D index (decayed teeth), M index (missed teeth), F index (filled teeth), and DMF index were 1.1±1.8, 2.3±3.4, 5.7±3.5, and 9.2±5.1 respectively. Conclusion: The mean of DMF index in aircrew members (9.2) shows that all of aircrew members have one to nine decayed, missed, or filled teeth. This indicates the need of more serious dentistry care in this important group.
66 Study of mental health in the office employees of the Shahid Khazraei military educational center Dehbash AR Talebi M 1 10 2008 11 1 11 16 07 03 2012 03 06 2014 Background: Mental health is currently one the much debated issues. It aims at keeping the personal and social psyche safe and healthy such that the everyday job is done with the highest degree of efficiency and the subject has good interrelations with the society about him or her. The purpose of this study was thus to compare the personal specifications with the mental health in the office employees of the Shahid Khazraei military education center of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force. Materials and Methods: This research was a correlation study, in which 60 of the office personnel where chosen randomly and forms of mental health containing physical and psychological fields were distributed between them. Data were analyzed by the SPSS software. Results: The results revealed that there was a statistically significant relation between age, education, duration of service and income with mental health of an office employee. The study also revealed that the marital status of the employee has no significant effect on the mental health. Conclusion: We found some of the effective parameters on the mental health of the office employees in the Shahid Khazraei military educational center, by applying the results obtained there is hope for a higher quality of mental health and thus a higher quality in work. 67 Evaluation of depression among soldiers in one resting place of Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force Panjehband M Shokraei M 1 10 2008 11 1 17 21 07 03 2012 03 06 2014 Background: Depression is one of the common psychologic disorders that manifests it's Self with sad mood, absence of interest and enjoyment and a decrease in individual efficiency. Materials and methods: This applicable study was done with the facto expost method, it included 100 soldiers in one resting place of IRIAF which were tested with Beck's depression test. Results: mean ISD of Beck's test was 18.68±8/9. The correlation Between duration of service and depression and also age and depression were -0.102 and 0.264, respectively, so we saw that the correlation between age and depression was statistically significant. The level of education (primary school, middle school or high school) and depression were not correlated, but the distance from hometown to service place was correlated with depression. Conclusion: most soldiers had moderate to severe depression based on the Beck Test which indicated a high prevalence of disorder in the soldiers of the resting-place. 68 Air travel and cardiovascular events Mirzababaiy H Eskandari A Samadpoor M Alizadeh K 1 10 2008 11 1 23 33 07 03 2012 03 06 2014 Annudly 2 billion passengers undertake international and domestic air travel. Cardiac events account for the greatest percentage of flight diversions and appear to represent the major cause of in-flight death. Patients with cardiovascular disease can be more sensitive to changes in arterial oxygen saturation. The net effect of such pressure changes is in decreasing arterial oxygen tension which could provoke ischemia and arrhythmia in those most susceptible. As a result, before flight, oxygen bags must be considered for such passengers. Several studies have demonstrated increased and mean pulmonary arterial pressure at high altitudes could be due to sympathetic activity and hypoxia. The increase in pulmonary artery pressure suggest that travelers with depressed ejection fractions might suffer from increased symptoms of right or left sided heart failure during air travel. Dehydration has been a major concern with long haul air travel. Theoretically, dehydration could be expected to contribute to the deleterious effect of air travel on cardiac patients by effectively decreasing preload and therefore cardiac output in patients with pacemakers and ICDs that are adjusted externally via a wireless communication link, magnets producing a strong enough field that inhibit tachycardia therapy when placed on top of almost all ICD models. Pulmonary embolism (PE) has been suggested as a culprit in deaths related to air travel. Risk of symptomless calf DVT is high in subjects over 50 years of age on flights longer than 8 h. The role of aspirin therapy in the prevention of VTE has been a subject of considerable debate. Compression stocking appear to represent a reasonable measure in all travelers over the age of 50 years who fly for more than 8 h or further than 5000 Km. The current generation of pacemakers and ICDs would allow easy access to data regarding in flight arrhythmia and might help to further elucidate the impact of altitude on the occurrence of ventricular and atrial arrhythmias. 69 Early detection of bioterrorism agents by nano-sensors Gharatappeh AR Memariyani M Lellahi SM Tajvidi MB Doragi E 1 10 2008 11 1 35 40 07 03 2012 03 06 2014 There exist numerous methods for detection and identification of bioterrorism agents. Some of these methods were developed before and some after the September 11th crisis. Even though some of these methods have been claimed to be fast, exact and trustable, the reality is that a very rare variety of such methods are applicable to the detection of bioterrorism agents. In recent decades the fronteirs of science have advanced and new discoveries have lead humanity to better and more efficient products. One of these products is Nanotechnology. Detection of chemical bombs and bioterrorism agents is one of the basic activities in modern war defense. Thus, the development of new tools that are able to directly analyze, be exact and fast is of high importance in methods and tools of detection. With the advancement of science and development of electronic devices and the new technological power that has come to man’s use in the recent decades, the need for construction of more efficient and smaller detectors is sensed more. 70 The latest on practical psychology in modern military strategy Mahmoudi GH 1 10 2008 11 1 42 49 07 03 2012 03 06 2014 Military psychology, because of it's variety in the fields of military performance, deals with different subjects. The practical fields consist of evaluation of military personnel, studying human factors and human-technology relationships, effect of environmental factors on forces, considering pathological factors, propagandas and psychological war and psychotherapy and changing behavior. Today, the strategy of military knowledge is based on a tripod of special wars, space wars and psychological operation. Applied psychology serves military needs, according to these Three. The military might of soldier in special wars, space wars and psychological operating, is Knowledge. personality and motivational features, like optimistism, high courage, lack of neurotic indignation symptoms and aggression and suitable conceptual organization was evaluated from the view point of personality and motivational psychology. Preparing the environment that causes the ability of suitable emotional incentives by designing special computer games for soldiers and control of environmental effects like heat, atmosphere changes, color and voice upon cognitive- behavioral performance of soldiers from the view point of environmental psychology and use of propaganda psychology for professionalizing the psychological operations from the view point of military deception, are considered as applicable samples of psychology in military territories.
